Nobody seems to agree on whether inflatable pools need chemical treatment! My neighbor insists that small pools don't need any chemicals since you can just dump and refill them weekly. The pool store salesperson tried selling me a whole starter kit with chlorine, pH strips, and shock treatment. Meanwhile, YouTube videos are split - some say just use a little bleach, others say chemicals are overkill for temporary pools. I've got a 12-foot inflatable that we'll be using all summer with the kids. The frost is creeping up the sides of my above ground pool right now and I'm staring at it wondering if I should tear this whole thing down or just leave it up all winter. I live in an area that gets pretty cold with some snow, and I'm not sure if my pool can handle it or if I'm just asking for a disaster come spring.

I've got one of those steel frame pools, not the super cheap inflatable kind. What do I need to do to winterize it properly? Or should I just bite the bullet and take it down? Really hoping someone can save me from hours of disassembly work!…more

Since setting up my new 24-foot Intex above ground pool, I can't figure out if the liner pad is actually necessary or just another upsell. The pool company keeps pushing this liner pad thing on me, saying it's "essential" - but is it really? I've already blown through way more money than I budgeted for this project.

I'm hoping someone can give me the straight truth here. Will skipping the liner pad come back to bite me later? I'd rather spend the money upfront if it actually protects my investment, but I don't want to get taken for a ride on unnecessary add-ons either.…more
