Looked at my pool this morning and decided I'm done paying someone else to clean it — just need to figure out if Lowe's has decent pool vacuums worth buying. Last week they tried to convince me I needed a $2,000 robotic cleaner when all I want is something decent to keep my pool clean without breaking the bank.

Does anyone know if big box stores like Lowe's actually carry pool vacuums? I'm hoping to find some options there since they usually have better prices than the specialty pool shops. Apparently planning to tackle our inground pool installation this spring — what should I have budgeted and ready before contractors start calling back? Some contractors are quoting us wildly different amounts and I can't tell what's reasonable.

I know there are different types of pools - concrete, vinyl liner, and fiberglass - but I have no idea which offers the best value for a family with young children. We want something safe and durable that won't break the bank, but we also don't want to cut corners on quality when it comes to our kids' safety.

Replaced my pool financing research with Southwest points after the airline's manual says no home improvements, but contractors keep telling me they've seen customers pay this way. I've got a ton of Southwest Rapid Rewards points saved up from travel, and I'm wondering if there's any way I can use them to help pay for the pool construction or at least some of the equipment and supplies I'll need.
